Whether you’re my best friend or we’ve never even met, I know a secret about you: you’re capable of more than you realize.
How can I be so sure? Because the 70+ people I’ve coached over the last 14 months have proven it to be true. Over and over and over again, I watch people who’ve been desperately waiting for their lives to change, finally take matters into their own hands, and then suddenly bloom before my eyes.
This is especially true when it comes to creative professionals. We put so much damn pressure on ourselves! To do better, to be better. Yet with all the self-criticism, we lose sight of how amazing we already are.
I haven’t gotten to where I am in my life because I’m smarter, because I’m better, or because I work harder than anyone else. You’re probably a hell of a lot smarter than I am! I am living my best life for one reason and one reason only: I let myself.
I let myself do what I want.
Maybe this makes me sound privileged. Maybe this makes me sound selfish. I won’t deny that I’m both. But I’m also the happiest I’ve ever been, doing work I love, in love with the man of my dreams, and traveling the world soaking up all life has to offer.
I’m not lucky. I made this happen.
Are you alone in your work without support and guidance?
No one can support you until you let them.
Are you expected to have all the answers without any of the resources?
No one will give you resources you don’t ask for.
Are you scared to suggest new ideas because of constant push-back?
No one will believe in you if you won’t defend yourself.
Are you struggling to get the work you want because you lack the experience it requires?
No one can make you qualified. You have to make yourself.
Stop waiting for permission to come from someone else. Make yourself.
