Sometime this weekend I hit 10,000 unique visitors on this measly little blog. (Well, unique cookies at least.)
I have been writing here since January 10 of this year. I never expected to attract much of a following, let alone in just four months. Pleasure and Pain is now averaging 920 unique visitors weekly, and there are 236 subscribers to the RSS feed. It may not seem like much to some of you, but it’s simply astounding to me.
I am honored by each and every one of you who have taken an interest in what I have to say. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your readership, your participation and your encouragement.
For the majority of my life, I haven’t found fulfillment in groups. As an only child, a sometimes-introvert, a thinker, a critic, a liberal and a rebel-in-disguise, I’ve rarely felt like I really belong anywhere. I made myself a promise that I would actively seek to change that in 2008. And since I’ve begun to reach out to my professional community — going to conferences, publishing my thoughts on this blog, connecting with a world of bright and insightful people on Twitter — I feel much more at home in my own skin. I feel like I’ve found my compatriots, my kindred spirits.
Thank you for being a part of it, for making me feel all warm and cozy on the inside, and for helping me find a place to call home.
